Dr. Mickey Parish is the Senior Science Advisor at FDA’s Center for Food Safety and Applied Nutrition. In this role, he oversees the overall CFSAN research portfolio and addresses issues related to science and research policy. In his previous position at FDA, Mickey was the Senior Advisor for Microbiology in the CFSAN Office of Food Safety and provided technical support for food safety policy development and implementation, and participated in outbreak and recall investigations.
Prior to coming to FDA, Mickey was a career academician first on the faculty at the University of Florida and later as Professor and department chair in the University of Maryland’s Department of Nutrition and Food Science. Mickey is active in his profession and is currently the President-elect of the International Association for Food Protection. He has a Ph.D. in Food Science from North Carolina State University, a Master’s degree in Food Science from the University of Florida, and B.S. in Biology from Florida State University.
